First Notice:

The Chincoteague Town Council and the Planning Commission will conduct a joint public hearing commencing at 7 P.M. on October 6, 2025, in the Council Chambers at the municipal building located at 6150 Community Drive, Chincoteague, VA 23336 to afford interested parties the opportunity to be heard or present written comments concerning proposed changes to the Town Zoning Ordinance regarding uses allowed by-right in the C-2 Old Town Commercial district.

Written comments may be submitted to the Town Manager until 5 P.M. on October 6 at the above physical address or to mtolbert@chincoteague-va.gov.

Second Notice:

The Chincoteague Town Council will conduct a public hearing commencing at 7 P.M. on October 6, 2025, in the Council Chambers at the municipal building located at 6150 Community Drive, Chincoteague, VA 23336 to afford interested parties the opportunity to be heard or present written comments concerning the installation of additional lighting in Memorial Park to include the tennis courts and other park amenities.

Questions can be addressed to the Town Manager at (757)336-6519.  Written comments may be submitted to the Town Manager until 5 P.M. on October 6 at the above physical address or to mtolbert@chincoteague-va.gov.

 

Beach Reopening

Beach Reopening

Assateague Island National Seashore reported:

The Chincoteague Beach and Beach Parking area within the Virginia unit of Assateague Island National Seashore will reopen at 3 PM on FRIDAY 8/29.  Until then, please continue to stay out of the area so that we can maximize the amount of parking available for the weekend.

The Tom’s Cove Visitor Center will reopen at 9 AM Saturday 8/30.  Lifeguards will be on the beach for the Labor Day weekend.  We would like to thank all those who helped get this done, Including NPS and USFWS staff, and Town of Chincoteague and Accomack County work crews.

The parking lots will be at about 2/3 capacity for the weekend.  Please do not attempt to go beyond closures-you are likely to get stuck.  Have a great Holiday weekend!

The Town of Chincoteague Water System performed routine monitoring of contaminants in your drinking water during the 2024 calendar year.  Test results indicate all these contaminants were below allowable levels and no violations were reported.  You are strongly urged to CLICK HERE to view your 2024 Annual Water Quality Report and learn more about Chincoteague’s drinking water.  This Water Quality Report contains important information about the source and quality of your drinking water.  To speak with someone about the report or request a printed copy be mailed to your home please call (757) 336-6519.
