It is with honor and great pride that the Town of Chincoteague announces that the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce recently awarded the Town of Chincoteague’ Director of Emergency Services and Emergency Management Coordinator, Bryan Rush with the 2021 Leonard “Buddy” Burton Business Person of the Year Award. As quoted in his award presentation: “Bryan has been with the Town for over 30 years in many capacities. According to his nomination ballot, he exhibits the “highest level of moral and ethical standards”. His outstanding leadership and commitment to this community shows in everything he does. “Bryan sees to the needs of others at all times of day or night and even during times of personal crisis in his own life. Bryan prepares, informs, and guides us through hurricanes, nor’easters, floods, and now…pandemics in the most professional manner by establishing policies and procedures for approval of Mayor and Town Council to keep our citizens and visitors safe during these catastrophic events. He goes above and beyond job expectations to ensure the safety of those in his care.”
Mayor Leonard, the Town Council, Town Staff along with the citizens of our Island wish to congratulate Bryan as the recipient for this award and for his outstanding service to our Island.

MOSQUITO CONTROL TECHNICIAN
The Town of Chincoteague is accepting applications for part-time, seasonal mosquito control positions. Responsibilities include operation of a fogging vehicle and
other mosquito reduction tasks. Applicants must obtain a Virginia Pesticide Registered Technician license prior to starting work. Applicant must also have a valid driver’s license.
